Getting Ready For CSA
Spring is raging full speed ahead here at the farm and we are excited to be gearing up for CSA season. Thanks again to everyone for filling our membership so quickly this year and we are sad to have to tell so many more we are already over capacity. The farmers have been busy getting everything planted and a good dose of rain is watering everything in. Green onions Collards Beets Carrots Lettuce Some sites only: Napa Cabbage Spinach Kale Fennel Strawberries Vegetable Storage and Preparation Tips: NAPA CABBAGE: Napa Cabbage is cleverly packaged. Just stick dry, unwashed cabbage in fridge. The outer leaves may eventually get floppy, but you can remove & discard them to reveal fresh inner leaves. Cabbage can keep for a month, but once cut, store in a plastic bag. Rinse cabbage under cold running water just before use. Peel away outer leaves (if necessary) & cut cabbage in half through stem end. Lay flat & quarter it, again through stem end. Read more

2020 CSA Season Begins!
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS Welcome to the 2020 Season! We’ll start with some details you’ll need to know! Please remember to practice safe social distancing when you pick up your share. Masks are recommended, and we will have hand sanitizer available at each pick-up location. We will provide clean pens to check your name off, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. CSA 2020 Season ~ Week #17
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS: THAT’S MY FARMER BENEFIT DINNER The annual “That’s My Farmer” Benefit dinner is scheduled for October 12th this season, with take out dinners scheduled from 5pm through 7pm. The meal will be created by the chef’s of Party Downtown, using donated produce and meats from partnering CSA farmers. The meal is always outstanding, and the proceeds go into the That’s My Farmer low income fund to support families in need with subsidized CSA shares or produce from Markets. Contact the farm for the reservation form. Tickets are $50 ($25 of that goes into the fund), and selling quickly. Read more

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS: A couple of the site hosts have mentioned that the CSA bins are not being wiped out well enough. If you would please take an extra moment to use the cloth towel at the site to wipe out the veggie matter from the bin, it really makes an easier task for your volunteer site host at the end of the day.
