2026 CSA Season Week Seven

July 21, 2026

Welcome to Week Seven of the 2026 CSA Season! I hope you’re doing well and that you’re enjoying the summer so far. As you can see…we have another beautiful CSA box for you this week. The crops are producing well in this warm weather and our farm team is busy harvesting delicious produce.

We’re grateful to have you with us sharing in the bounty this season!

Half Share – Group A members, this is your week!

Have you joined our CSA yet?

We do still have shares available for this season, and it’s not too late to join! We encourage you to sign up now. Every share helps to support the farm and keep the CSA going. We appreciate all of your support!

We will still have full shares and half shares on the same schedule format as last year, so half shares will have a Group A and a Group B schedule on alternating weeks. Our 20-week season will again go from June to October, and prices for all our delivery options remain the same as the 2025 season.

We have deliveries to Eugene, Springfield, Portland, Florence, Mapleton, Veneta, and Noti.

This is already the seventh week of the CSA season- Sign up today so you can enjoy the amazing Winter Green bounty this season!

You can place your order for the 2026 CSA Season here.

Due to the extreme weather, we will not be at the Eugene Farm Stand this week.

We apologize for the inconvenience! We hope you stay hydrated and cool. We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday back at the Farm Stand at Emmaus Lutheran Church (1250 W. 18th Ave)!

**CSA members who pick up shares at the Eugene Farm Stand– your boxes WILL still be available for you to pick up at Emmaus Lutheran Church this Wednesday, July 22nd. Boxes will be at the pick up site beginning at 1pm (They will be in the shade under the over-hanging. With the heat, we recommend picking up your boxes earlier rather than later, if possible)**

Do you have a favorite swimming spot?

Speaking of the hot weather…do you have a favorite swimming hole or river spot you like to enjoy on these hot summer days? Cascadia State Park is one of my favorite spots. Send us an email if you care to share where you’re going to “beat the heat” these days.

Strawberry Flats!

We have beautiful flats of strawberries again this week (available while supplies last).

If you’d like to purchase a flat, please contact the farm office directly to reserve your flat today!  folks@wintergreenfarm.com

IMPORTANT~ You will need to let us know which market or CSA site you’d like to pick up from so we send your strawberries to the correct location.

-$60 per flat
-$50 per flat for current CSA Members

*Please do NOT take any flats unless they are clearly marked with your name. Thank you so much!

What’s in your box this week:

  • Strawberries
  • Kale
  • Swiss Chard
  • Green Onions
  • Zucchini
  • Carrots
  • Onion
  • Lettuce
  • Cucumber

Handy Tips:

  • Chard: Swiss Chard keeps best unwashed and wrapped in a damp towel or plastic bag. Store it in the drawer of your refrigerator, and wash before use to remove any unwanted soil or insects. Cut the celery-like stems away from the tender leaves (you can use the stems in soup stocks) or chop the whole thing up and use the entire leaves, including the stems. To cook chard, steam for 8 to 10 minutes or boil for about 3 to 5 minutes. The greens brighten in color when they’re nearly cooked and should not be over-cooked to preserve flavor and nutrients. Add them to soups or casseroles, or serve steamed, tossed with butter, garlic, and just a bit of lemon juice.
  • Carrots: Cut or twist carrot tops off before storing in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. They will keep for several weeks. Clean the carrots well before eating by scrubbing with a vegetable brush under running water. Do not peel unless the carrots are damaged, as much of the nutrients are very close to the skin. Eat carrots raw in sticks, rounds, julienned, or grated. You can also add slices or chunks to soups, stews, or casseroles. Carrots are also delicious lightly steamed or sautéed, and garnished with butter or olive oil and fresh herbs. Try them grated with oil, lemon juice, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  • Strawberries: Rinse strawberries just before eating to clean off any grit that may still be on the berries from the field. To freeze them, spread them out on a cookie sheet and place them in the freezer. Once frozen, store them in a Ziploc bag or plastic container until ready to use.
  • Zucchini: Keep the zucchini whole, dry and unwashed. Store it in a breathable or paper bag with one end open to encourage air circulation and place in your fridge crisper drawer.
  • Kale: Wash kale leaves well by dipping them in a sink of cool water several times to flush out soil and garden stowaways. Remove the stems from the leaves by folding leaf in half lengthwise, and stripping or slicing away the thick stems. Baby or tender young leaves may be cooked, stem and all. Steam mature kale leave approximately 4-5 minutes, depending on age, size, and amount in steamer. When it’s limp but still retains texture, it’s ready. Wrap kale in a damp towel or in a plastic bag to refrigerate, preferably in a hydrator drawer, for up to one week. For long-term storage, kale can be frozen. Wash, de-stem, and blanch leaves for two minutes. Rinse in cold water, drain, and pack into airtight containers, and freeze.

What we’re making this week:

  • Strawberries– If you’re looking for a strawberry recipe that’s easy to make but still delicious, these No Bake Strawberry Cheesecake Bars might be for you. I love that you don’t have to use your oven and heat up the kitchen to enjoy these!
  • Green Onions- Have you ever thought to make Grilled Green Onions? Neither had I, but let’s give this simple recipe a try.
  • Zucchini- These Zucchini Fritters are a fun & tasty summertime appetizer. Try them & let me know what you think!
  • Carrots- With the warmer temperatures we’re having right now, these Chilled Carrots with Tahini-Ginger will be a perfect side dish to accompany any one of your summertime meals this week! Enjoy!
  • Lettuce- We all love a fresh, green salad, but this Cold Creamy Lettuce Soup might have you falling in love (with lettuce) all over again! Let me know if you try it and what you garnished it with.
  • Cucumber- These crisp & tangy Marinated Cucumbers are easy to make and are great to eat during these warm summer months!

What’s cooking up in your kitchen lately? If you’d like to share any recipes or ideas, please shoot us an email! folks@wintergreenfarm.com

Quick Reminders:

  • If you are making monthly payments and have not yet made your July 1st payment, please submit that payment as soon as possible. Thank you!
  • Our residential sites have a hard deadline of 7pm. Please help us respect our wonderful volunteer site hosts by staying within that delivery window and treating their property (and other members) with respect and kindness. On that note…Please check with your site host before bringing your pets with you to pick up your shares. Thank you all for your cooperation. We really appreciate you!
  • Please make sure your name is on the list! If you don’t see it, please do not take a box. Instead, contact the farm via email at folks@wintergreenfarm.com and we’ll get back to you the next business day to figure out the mistake. We only pack enough boxes for those on the list, and we want to make sure everyone gets their share. Thank you so much for your help with this!

Are you going on vacation?

If you’re going on vacation and need to reschedule a CSA pickup or site, just let us know! We’re happy to help make things easier if we can.We do our best to plan ahead as much as possible to avoid any last-minute mistakes, so if you need to change a pickup date or a site, please let us know at least 7 days in advance.

If you do have to miss a scheduled box, we have a few options:

  • Reschedule for another week – for half share members, it’s easiest to reschedule for a week you wouldn’t normally pick up. For full share members, you can choose a week you will be available to take a double share.
  • Receive up to two vacation coupons that can be redeemed at any of our markets.
  • Donate your share to Food for Lane County.
  • Have a friend pick up your share while you’re gone – we actually don’t need to know about this one! As long as whoever is picking up your box checks off your name, treats the site and other members respectfully, and leaves the tote (just like you would!), you’re good to go!

We are happy to oblige with all of these options, just please make sure to let us know as soon as possible.

Many of you have already reached out to let me know about your upcoming vacation requests. I truly appreciate your cooperation and communication so that we can stay organized and make sure everyone gets their CSA shares. Thank you so much!

“What if I need to cancel my share?”

We understand that things happen and you may need to opt out of your share this season. We get it! Just let us know so we can adjust your account.

In order to cancel a share and refund any qualifying payments, we will need that cancelation in writing. Non-payment or not picking up your shares without letting us know you’re opting out does NOT count as canceling and you will still be financially responsible for whatever shares have already been delivered.

Thank you so much-We appreciate you!
