Winter Green Farm is accepting applications for the following positions:

Production Assistant Manager

The job responsibilities of the Production Assistant Manager are listed below. The duties will be shared with the production manager and the assistant will be trained into all facets of production. We realize that this is a transitionary job and that ultimate responsibility is on the shoulders of the Production Manager. The goal of this position is to train up the assistant manager into sharing the role and responsibilities of production. We also realize that the production assistant will be doing other things besides the duties below. Some other tasks may include harvesting/washing produce and other miscellaneous farm tasks.

Duties include – Tractor work: Field prep, fertility applications, cultivating, stale seed bedding, flaming, mowing, harvesting. Record keeping: Field mapping, fertility records, water testing (irrigation pumps and wells 5 times annually). Crop & field monitoring: keeping an eye on crops health. Communicating with manager of any issues (insect pressure, weed pressure, water needs). Field houses and tunnels Monitoring crop health, fertility management(opening and closing houses, and irrigation management). Turning in crops in a timely fashion to keep fields clean. Cover cropping: Spring, summer, and fall cover cropping. Keeping an eye on seed inventory, making sure we have what we need before we need it. Maintenance: Performing regular maintenance on tractors and equipment (tractor ten hours, greasing and checking fluids on equipment regularly). Assisting mechanic as needed, reporting breakdowns to mechanic. Communication: Scheduling production needs on a timely basis. Cultivation, seeding tillage, mowing, harvest etc. Communicating with irrigation crew of water needs (e.g. If you need something dry to till or cultivate to let the crew know prior to need).

Compensation: Wage depends on experience, access to vegetables and ½ a CSA share, and paid sick leave.

Delivery Driver

EUGENE/SPRINGFIELD
Duties include: Delivering weekly CSA Shares to Eugene/Springfield on Tuesday & Friday. Candidate will be required to have a friendly, out going attitude, and be able to lift up to 40lbs. You must have experience driving a 12-16 ft box truck in urban or highway settings and have a valid drivers license with a clean record.

Farmers’ Market Vendors

Duties include: Meeting the Market crew at either our Saturday or Sunday Farmers’ Market in either Portland or Eugene, in the morning, and helping to set up the market stand. You will then spend the day vending, keeping the stand looking good, breaking down the booth, and helping to re-load the truck. Hours will range from 6-8 hrs a week, May through November, and for a few weeks in December.

Qualified candidate will have the ability to work with a friendly, out going attitude. Should be a self motivated, responsible individual, who loves to work in a team environment, and loves to work with produce!

Farm Crew

Duties include: Harvesting, processing and packing produce for our Community Supported Agriculture members and Farmers Markets. You will also be planting, hoeing and weeding crops. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work long days under the hot sun, and still smile. Benefits include being outside in the fresh air, working with an amazing crew, and access to fresh, organic produce.
