Welcome to Week Ten of the 2026 CSA Season! It’s wonderful to see blue sky again and we hope you’re enjoying the fresh air and cooler temperatures so far this week. We’re also excited about the abundant Winter Green produce that we’re packing in your CSA shares and sending to the farmers’ markets this week. Thank you for being here with us this season!
Half Share – Group B members, this is your week!

We’re Back at The Eugene Farm Stand This week!
| We’re happy to be back at the Farm Stand this week (Wednesday, August 12th) and we look forward to seeing many of you there! *Eugene Farm Stand on Wednesdays -2pm to 6pm at the Emmaus Lutheran Church (1250 W. 18th Ave) |

What’s in your box this week
- Cucumber
- Summer squash
- Carrots
- Kale
- Lettuce
- Green Onions
- Strawberries
- Green Beans
- Cauliflower (at some sites)
*If we aren’t able to get something from the list to your site this week, don’t worry! We’re keeping great notes and we’ll be sure to get your site next time.

Handy Tips:
- Carrots: Cut or twist carrot tops off before storing in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. They will keep for several weeks. Clean the carrots well before eating by scrubbing with a vegetable brush under running water. Do not peel unless the carrots are damaged, as much of the nutrients are very close to the skin. Eat carrots raw in sticks, rounds, julienned, or grated. You can also add slices or chunks to soups, stews, or casseroles. Carrots are also delicious lightly steamed or sautéed, and garnished with butter or olive oil and fresh herbs. Try them grated with oil, lemon juice, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Cucumber: Wash your cucumbers well before using. Peeling is optional for organic cucumbers. Try peeling the skins in alternating strips for a decorative effect. You can cut them into spears and serve them with dip, put the slices on sandwiches, or marinate the slices for cold cucumber salad.
- Summer Squash: To store properly, keep the squash dry and unwashed. Then place in a perforated plastic bag or plastic/paper bag with one end of the bag open, and keep in the crisper drawer in your fridge. Ideal storage temperature is between 45-50 degrees.
- Green Beans: To store green beans, keep them unwashed and in a breathable plastic bag, lined with a paper towel in your refrigerator crisper drawer. Do not trim or wash them until right before you cook them.
- Kale: Wash kale leaves well by dipping them in a sink of cool water several times to flush out soil and garden stowaways. Remove the stems from the leaves by folding leaf in half lengthwise, and stripping or slicing away the thick stems. Baby or tender young leaves may be cooked, stem and all. Steam mature kale leave approximately 4-5 minutes, depending on age, size, and amount in steamer. When it’s limp but still retains texture, it’s ready. Wrap kale in a damp towel or in a plastic bag to refrigerate, preferably in a hydrator drawer, for up to one week. For long-term storage, kale can be frozen. Wash, de-stem, and blanch leaves for two minutes. Rinse in cold water, drain, and pack into airtight containers, and freeze.

What we’re making this week:
- Cucumbers– This Cucumber Salad has some wonderful, bright flavors in it and you can get creative with this…try adding red bell pepper or even fresh corn.
- Summer Squash- Stuffed Zucchini are a delicious alternative to a heavier pasta dish. If you like a little “zip”, I suggest trying this recipe with hot Italian sausage. So delicious!
- Strawberries- This Blended Strawberry & Mint Green Tea sounds so refreshing! I’ll definitely be making this one this week.
- Kale- This Kale and Citrus Salad looks so good~ Try adding crumbled goat cheese & Enjoy!
- Carrots- This delicious Moroccan Carrot Salad is simple to make and tastes even better if you make it in advance and give it a day or 2 for the spices and flavors to deepen!
- Green Beans- Pickled green beans (or “dilly beans“) are easy to make and are a perfect snack for a summer picnic!
- Green onion & zucchini– These Veggie Scrambled Eggs are a tasty way you can incorporate several of your CSA veggies into a delicious breakfast or weekend brunch. You can also add bacon or ham and I recommend adding goat cheese as well!
We love hearing from you all, so send us an email and let us know what you’re making lately and what you liked! folks@wintergreenfarm.com

CSA Reminders:
- Reminder for members who pick up in Noti (at the farm)– We’re always happy to see our CSA members! In order to ensure safety for everyone (and efficiency for our farm crews), please do not park in front of any farm buildings or blocking the pack room when you arrive. We’re a working farm with many farm vehicles and equipment frequently passing through. Thank you so much for understanding and for helping things run safely and smoothly!
- Our residential sites have a hard deadline of 7pm. Please help us respect our wonderful volunteer site hosts by staying within that delivery window and treating their property (and other members) with respect and kindness. On that note…Please check with your site host before bringing your pets with you to pick up your shares. Thank you all for your cooperation. We really appreciate you!
- Please make sure your name is on the list! If you don’t see it, please do not take a box. Instead, contact the farm via email at folks@wintergreenfarm.com and we’ll get back to you the next business day to figure out the mistake. We only pack enough boxes for those on the list, and we want to make sure everyone gets their share. Thank you so much for your help with this!

August Payments:
The summer is moving along quickly and we’re now in August! With vacations and summer activities, it’s easy to lose track of pesky logistics (like CSA payments) and we get it! Here’s your friendly reminder from the farm office regarding CSA payments:
- If you’re a CSA member making monthly payments, please submit your August payment if you haven’t yet done so.
- For members who are paying in two installments, quick reminder that your second payment is due on August 15th.
If you have any questions, please reach out! folks@wintergreenfarm.com. We greatly appreciate you all!

Are you going on vacation?
If you’re going on vacation and need to reschedule a CSA pickup or site, just let us know! We’re happy to help make things easier if we can. We do our best to plan ahead as much as possible to avoid any last-minute mistakes, so if you need to change a pickup date or a site, please let us know at least 7 days in advance.
If you do have to miss a scheduled box, we have a few options:
- Reschedule for another week – for half share members, it’s easiest to reschedule for a week you wouldn’t normally pick up. For full share members, you can choose a week you will be available to take a double share.
- Receive up to two vacation coupons that can be redeemed at any of our markets.
- Donate your share to Food for Lane County.
- Have a friend pick up your share while you’re gone – we actually don’t need to know about this one! As long as whoever is picking up your box checks off your name, treats the site and other members respectfully, and leaves the tote (just like you would!), you’re good to go!
We are happy to oblige with all of these options, just please make sure to let us know as soon as possible.
I truly appreciate your cooperation and communication so that we can stay organized and make sure everyone gets their CSA shares. Thank you so much!

“What if I need to cancel my share?”
We understand that things happen and you may need to opt out of your share this season. We get it! Just let us know so we can adjust your account.
In order to cancel a share and refund any qualifying payments, we will need that cancelation in writing. Non-payment or not picking up your shares without letting us know you’re opting out does NOT count as canceling and you will still be financially responsible for whatever shares have already been delivered.
Thank you -We appreciate you!

Many of you have reached out to let us know how much you’re enjoying your Winter Green produce. We love hearing from our CSA members, market customers and friends!
Thank you for being part of our Winter Green family and for your continued support!
Many blessings,
Summer and your Winter Green farmers
