2026 CSA Season Week Five
Welcome to Week Five of the 2026 CSA Season. I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend and are continuing to enjoy the beautiful produce we’ve been sending your way. The weather is warming up again and the Winter Green veggies and strawberries are looking amazing! Everything we grow here at the farm is organic and biodynamic, and any fruits we include from other farms (for example, the blueberries in your CSA shares this week) are organic as well.
We’re so glad you’re with us, sharing the amazing bounty this season. We look forward to hearing how you’re enjoying your Winter Green Produce.
Half Share – Group A members, this is your week!

Have you joined our CSA yet?
We do still have shares available for this season, and it’s not too late to join! We encourage you to sign up now. Every share helps to support the farm and keep the CSA going. We appreciate all of your support!
We will still have full shares and half shares on the same schedule format as last year, so half shares will have a Group A and a Group B schedule on alternating weeks. Our 20-week season will again go from June to October, and prices for all our delivery options remain the same as the 2025 season.
We have deliveries to Eugene, Springfield, Portland, Florence, Mapleton, Veneta, and Noti.
This is already the fifth week of the CSA season- Sign up today so you can enjoy the amazing Winter Green bounty this season!

*Please do NOT take any flats unless they are clearly marked with your name. Thank you so much!

What’s happening on the farm?
Yesterday morning the harvest crew was busy harvesting strawberries that you will be seeing in your CSA shares this week.
Things are in full-swing out here on the farm as Chris, Shannon and our harvest team are busy planting, harvesting, washing and packing so many beautiful veggies!

We’ve got blueberries for you!
We’ve partnered again this year with Upriver Organics for the two weeks we’re offering blueberries! Upriver Organics is located up McKenzie Highway in Leaburg. They offer blueberries by the pint, as a u-pick, or even frozen! They also have many other wonderful organic vegetables available. Check out their website for more information or to contact them directly.

What’s in your box this week:
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Cabbage
- Green Onion
- Collard Greens
- Potatoes
- Carrots
Right now, we’re hoping to get everything to everyone, but if we aren’t able to get something to your site this week, don’t worry! We’re keeping excellent notes. If we don’t get you this time, we’ll be sure to get you next time!

Handy Tips:
- Green Onions: Paper towels prevent moisture, stopping green onions from getting soggy and slimy in storage.
No washing before storing in the fridge helps green onions last longer and stay crisp.
- Carrots: Cut or twist carrot tops off before storing in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. They will keep for several weeks. Clean the carrots well before eating by scrubbing with a vegetable brush under running water. Do not peel unless the carrots are damaged, as much of the nutrients are very close to the skin. Eat carrots raw in sticks, rounds, julienned, or grated. You can also add slices or chunks to soups, stews, or casseroles. Carrots are also delicious lightly steamed or sautéed, and garnished with butter or olive oil and fresh herbs. Try them grated with oil, lemon juice, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Strawberries: Rinse strawberries just before eating to clean off any grit that may still be on the berries from the field. To freeze them, spread them out on a cookie sheet and place them in the freezer. Once frozen, store them in a Ziploc bag or plastic container until ready to use.
- Blueberries: Do NOT rinse blueberries before you’re ready to eat them. They have a natural coating that protects them from decay. They will keep well in the fridge for up to 10 days. You can freeze them on a cookie sheet and store them in Ziploc bags or sealable containers. Fresh or frozen berries can be used to make cakes, breads, and muffins, as well as added to yogurt, oatmeal, ice cream, and smoothies.
- Collard Greens: Remove the stems-The tough stem in the middle is the main reason for bitter greens. Use your sharp knife to cut away the main stem in the center from the leaves. Washing collards- Soaking collard greens in a kitchen sink full of cool water and some distilled white vinegar will help tenderize the greens!

What we’re making this week:
- Strawberries– The beautiful strawberries in your shares can be enjoyed SO many different ways, but I’m excited to make Strawberry Shortcake later this week. Always a family favorite!
- Blueberries- This is the best Blueberry Muffin recipe I’ve found and I’ve used it for many years. The crumb topping is to die for!
- Cabbage, Potatoes & Carrots– This One Pot Cabbage, Potatoes & Sausage dinner looks so delicious! Don’t forget the spicy brown mustard.
- Green Onions- This Mushroom and Green Onion Stir fry is easy to make and you can get creative with this one (try adding your favorite protein & let me know what you think).
- Collard Greens- Southern Style Collard Greens are a tasty way to prepare your greens. If you’re looking for another option that’s vegetarian, try these Garlic Sauteed Collard Greens.
Have you tried any new recipes lately with your Winter Green Produce that you’d like to share? Please shoot us an email. We love hearing from our CSA members!

Some Quick Reminders:
-If you are making monthly payments and have not yet made your July 1st payment, please submit that payment as soon as possible. Thank you!
-Our residential sites have a hard deadline of 7pm. Please help us respect our wonderful volunteer site hosts by staying within that delivery window and treating their property (and other members) with respect and kindness. On that note…Please check with your site host before bringing your pets with you to pick up your shares. Thank you all for your cooperation. We really appreciate you!
-Please make sure your name is on the list! If you don’t see it, please do not take a box. Instead, contact the farm via email at folks@wintergreenfarm.com and we’ll get back to you the next business day to figure out the mistake. We only pack enough boxes for those on the list, and we want to make sure everyone gets their share. Thank you so much for your help with this!

Are you going on vacation?
If you’re going on vacation, just let us know! We’re happy to help make things easier if we can.We do our best to plan ahead as much as possible to avoid any last-minute mistakes, so if you need to change a pickup date or a site, please let us know at least 7 days in advance.
If you do have to miss a scheduled box, we have a few options:
- Reschedule for another week – for half share members, it’s easiest to reschedule for a week you wouldn’t normally pick up. For full share members, you can choose a week you will be available to take a double share.
- Receive up to two vacation coupons that can be redeemed at any of our markets.
- Donate your share to Food for Lane County.
- Have a friend pick up your share while you’re gone – we actually don’t need to know about this one! As long as whoever is picking up your box checks off your name, treats the site and other members respectfully, and leaves the tote (just like you would!), you’re good to go!
We are happy to oblige with all of these options, just please make sure to let us know as soon as possible.
Many of you have already reached out to let me know about your upcoming vacation requests. I truly appreciate your cooperation and communication so that we can stay organized and make sure everyone gets their CSA shares. Thank you so much!

“What if I need to cancel my share?”
We understand that things happen and you may need to opt out of your share this season. We get it! Just let us know so we can adjust your account.
In order to cancel a share and refund any qualifying payments, we will need that cancelation in writing. Non-payment or not picking up your shares without letting us know you’re opting out does NOT count as canceling and you will still be financially responsible for whatever shares have already been delivered.
Thank you so much-We appreciate you!
