We’ve made it to February!

February 9, 2024

2024 is well under way, and we’ve already made it to February. That means the CSA season is right around the corner! We hope you’re all enjoying a relaxing winter, and you’re getting excited for summer as much as we are!

What’s going on at the farm:

It’s lambing season! All our cute little lambs are coming into the world, sometimes two at a time! Chris, Shannon, and the boys are staying busy looking after them all, and Canyon, the loyal “sheep” dog, is keeping everyone in line.

But that’s not all that’s happening right now! The greenhouse is in full swing! The first rotations of lettuce, kale, cabbage, peas, onions, pac choi, and fennel are all up and going! Once they are well-rooted, they will get transplanted out in the fields and tended to until harvest. We can’t wait to share the bounty with you!

Have you signed up for the 2024 CSA Season yet?

Sign-ups for this season are open, and we’re excited to have you with us again this year! If you haven’t confirmed your share for this season, please shoot me an email at [email protected] so I can get you set up, and incorporate any discounts and credits you have on your account. (Please note that if you’re a current member and you set up an order yourself, I cannot add any discounts to your invoice.)

Returning members from 2023 get a $10.00 discount, and if you’re able to pay in full before April 1st, you’ll get an additional $10.00 off! While payments aren’t technically due until May 15th, if you’re able to make a payment beforehand, it really helps out the farm! During the off-season, we’re ordering seed, doing any necessary maintenance, looking to hire seasonal staff, and our core staff is planting for the harvest. It can get a little tight during the winter months! If you are able to pay in full before the season begins, we would greatly appreciate it. If not, no worries! You still have until May 15th to pay in full or set up a payment plan. I’ll include more information on that when your share information goes in the mail.

While you can always pay online, if you would rather pay by check to avoid the credit card fee (for us too!), you can send a check to:

We’re looking for a few new site hosts this year!

Over the years, we’ve had some truly wonderful site hosts, and we appreciate every single one of you. However, it is a volunteer position, and this year, some have chosen to move on. We’d like to offer a heartfelt thank you to our site hosts from Florence, Coos Bay, and Washington Street in Eugene! It’s truly been a pleasure.

We would love to be able to deliver to these site areas again this year, but to do that, we’ll need your help! If you’re a member who picks up at the Florence, Coos Bay, or Washington Street sites, and you would be willing to volunteer your home as a residential pickup site, please let me know! If you’re a member, we offer a $50.00 discount for your share. If you’re not, we’ll send you a $50.00 market card as a thank you! I’m happy to answer any and all questions about volunteering as a site host this season, so feel free to email me at [email protected].

We’re back at the Lane County Farmers’ Market!

Are you in the Eugene area and craving Winter Green veggies? Come see us at the Lane County Farmers’ Market in Eugene on Saturdays! We’re located at 8th and Oak, and the market is open from 9am to 3pm. We’ll have lots of winter veggies to share with you, and we would love to see you!

We’re hiring for this season!

Right now, we’re looking to hire qualified, hard-working people to join our team as part of our farm crew! We’re also looking to add a delivery driver for both Eugene and Portland, as well as a driver and vendor for the King Market in Portland on Sundays. We are looking for full-time applicants over the age of 18, who are looking to be part of our Winter Green family. For more information, or to submit an application, check us out on our website!

February is warming up, and the rain is starting to say hello. We hope you’re getting excited for this coming season, because we know we sure are! Until then, we hope you’re all enjoying your winter!

Many blessings,

Chelsea and your Winter Green farmers
