We’re only a month away!

April 28, 2023

This spring has been a weird one, but now that the sun is finally out, June is coming up fast! Our greenhouses are overflowing, the ground is being tilled, and our crew is working hard to get everything ready for the 2023 CSA Season. We hope you’re as excited as we are for this upcoming season!

The sun is finally peeking through!

We still have shares available for the 2023 CSA Season!

The 2023 CSA Season officially opened on January 2, 2023. If you’re a new member, hop on over to our website and signup for a share! HOWEVER, if you were a member in 2022 and want a share for 2023, go ahead and send me an email instead. We do offer a $10.00 discount for being a returning members that I can only implement online if I set up the order. So, for those who have already let me know they want to reserve a share, I have set up those orders online. If you didn’t receive an invoice in your email and don’t see an order when you login to your account, let me know so I can get it fixed! Technology doesn’t always cooperate like we think it will.

If you would like to join us again this year, please shoot me an email at [email protected] so I can make sure your online invoice includes that discount, the $25.00 deposit if you paid one, and any credits from 2022. If you create the order yourself, I cannot add those discounts/credits on your end, and they will only be reflected on your account on my side.

It also saves you time! I’m setting up the order and then emailing the invoice to you, so all you have to do is decide how you want to proceed. You’re more than welcome to pay online (plus that 3% transaction fee) or send a check, either personal or direct from your bank. If you would like to pay by SNAP, that’s fine too! We are still open to all payment types we have accepted in the past.

Quick note for past members: I will be updating our email list next week, so if you aren’t signed up for the 2023 season and you haven’t requested to continue to get emails, this will be the last blog post you’ll receive!

Share information will be going out in May in both email and hard-copy form.

The deadline for share payments for 2023 is in just a couple weeks!

For those paying in full or in two installments, the deadline for those payments is May 15, 2023. You can login to your website account and access your orders to pay online (plus that credit card transaction fee), or you’re still welcome to send a check.

Our payment options are as follows:

  • Pay in full: If you would like to pay in full, no problem! The due date for full payments is May 15, 2023. If you need an extension, please reach out and let me know.
  • Pay in two equal payments: If you would like to pay in two payments, we are happy to work with you! The first payment will still be due by May 15, 2023, and the second payment will be due by August 15, 2023.
  • Pay in monthly installments: We completely understand needing to spread out your payments, and we’re happy to help with that! We do ask that you make the payment in five installments, due the 1st of each month from June to October. We are still happy to take post-dated checks if that’s your preference.
  • Pay with SNAP: We are more than happy to work with SNAP and the Double-up Food Bucks program! If you used SNAP last year, I will set up your online accounts with that payment option. If you’re no longer with SNAP, just let me know and I’ll make the adjustments. If you’re a new SNAP member this season, shoot me an email with the name on your SNAP account, the card number, and your benefit loading day. SNAP confirmations will be going out in the next month or so, so you’ll have an idea of your monthly payments and the matched DUFB benefit.

If you need financial assistance, please let me know either by filling out the request form or sending me an email, and I will get you on the list. Once we know how much assistance we will have for this season, I will be able to apply the amounts to the requests to make sure we can help as many people as possible. Please note, we have to have an order to get you on the list!

If you get an online invoice and you’re no longer interested in a share for the 2023 season, just let me know! I’m going off my list of requests that I received from October to now, and I did not add anyone to the 2023 list automatically. That said, if changes to your share type need to be made or you’d like to cancel altogether, no problem! It’s an easy fix, so just let me know by email at [email protected].

We have two new site locations in Eugene!

We’ve successfully found two new wonderful site hosts in Eugene for the 2023 CSA Season who have graciously volunteered their time, porches, and driveways for your convenience each week!

Sean Peterson at 1346 W Broadway has taken over for the Taylor Street Location.

Sally Baumgartner at 2867 Sarah Lane has taken over the Wingate Street Location.

For those members picking up at those locations, information about those sites will be sent to you with your share information.

Our cows are an important part of our biodynamic farming practices.

It’s Raab Season!

You may have heard of broccoli raab, but did you know that every brassica creates its own version? Raab are the tender stalks that brassica plants shoot up before they go to flower and seed. We love raab for the delicious sweet flavor (sometimes with a spicy finish), versatility, and because it allows us to get one last push out of our fall crops to get you all some greens in the springtime.

The raab season isn’t very long, so head down to the @lanecountyfarmersmarket this Saturday to pick some up! We will have collard, kale, and several types of cabbage raab for you to try. Slice thinly into salads, steam it to enhance the sweetness, or drizzle with some olive oil and char on the stove, grill, or broiler.

Spring is finally here!

We’re so excited to tag along on this food journey with you as we gear up for this year’s season. I can almost taste those veggies already! We hope you’re all out enjoying this beautiful weather and spending time with those that matter as spring has finally arrived! Keep an eye on your email, because lots of information will be coming to you soon!

Many blessings,

Chelsea and your Winter Green Farmers
