A Fond Farewell to Our Wonderful Linda. Wishing her the best in retirement!

Dear Farm Family,

Happy Spring! Chelsea has graciously offered the opportunity for me to say farewell to you all, since I didn’t really get to do so last season. This is my official year of retirement from Winter Green Farm! After 17 years, I have to admit that it does feel a bit strange to not be going to the farm each morning, and watching the new season unfold. While I am thoroughly enjoying watching my own little homestead come alive this year, I do miss talking and sharing with you all.

Winter Green Farm was a wonderful experience for me. I came to the farm not knowing much about farming, or even what a CSA was! During my first year, when Wali gave me my mid-season evaluation, he told me one thing I could do better was to take on more responsibility, and make the farm my own. I took that to heart. It was easy to promote something I believed in so deeply. I learned valuable skills in my time there, and am immensely grateful to have met many amazing farmers, CSA members, and to be part of so many dynamic communities and families. I especially loved watching the farm families grow, and to be part of their lives on a daily basis.

These days I spend my time caretaking my Long Tom Retreat space, and homestead. I have playdates with my grandchildren, and am planning a trip to Italy with my sister for her 70th birthday this Fall. I’m still helping Kevin & Courtney with the Beef sales, and am always looking for something to do part time to shore up the travel kitty. My time seems to fill up easily!

For those of you who participated in the farm CSA during my time there, thank you so much for welcoming me into your lives, and allowing me to become an intimate part of “your family”. What can be more intimate than sharing food! I cherish each and every one of you, and the connections we were blessed to have.  I hope our paths cross again in the future! Feel free to get in touch anytime.

Many blessings,

Linda

We’re so blessed to have worked with Linda here at the farm, and we cannot wait to see what her retirement has in store for her. Every time I speak with her, she tells of new adventures. We hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine between rains this spring as much as she is!

Many blessings,

Chelsea and your Winter Green farmers
